"It’s my 2nd time at The Kitchen and this time I brought my family along for dinner. They have an extensive menu and we had to control ourselves as we wanted to try almost all the dishes on the menu. The grilled ox tongue and steamed barramundi (very fresh) were the stand out dishes, and their fried ice cream was very different from the usual sphere shape with thick batter served everywhere. Theirs is wrapped in filo pastry & deep fried. Their front of house manager Anthony was very friendly and super attentive to all his diners even in a busy dinner sitting. There was this couple next table to us and Anthony noticed that they were chatting away and offered to reheat one of their dishes in the kitchen as it was best served hot. The couple was pleasantly surprised as we were as we had never seen such service in a restaurant. I’ve been here for dinners on a Saturday and Sunday and the restaurant was full on both occasions. Recommend that you make a reservation and go with a group of friends or/and family so you can order more dishes to share and enjoy."

"I had the absolute pleasure of eating at The Kitchen last night, and i am still salivating. Don't be fooled into thinking that that this is 'just a restaurant inside a pub'. You would be missing out if you did. I went with a group and up first was entree's for table of spring rolls, curry puffs, caramelized tofu and calamari. These dishes, while they stand alone as great dishes, also served to prepare your palate for wanting more from the menu. The entrees came out quickly and the servings generous. The mains were Goong Woonsen Mieng Xao Tom (Prawns with glass noodle) Tom Yum soup, Crab Fried rice, and Crying Tiger (Beef). Each dish took you on a journey to Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, with the food authentically cooked by dedicated chefs for each cuisine (demonstrated by the different coloured shirts ion the kitchen). The depth of flavour in each dish was to a level left you wanting more with each bite (unfortunately i had to share!). Lastly, dessert was Bingsu. Now if there is one thing i do not care for, it is honey dew melon. The smell and the taste is not for me. Imagine my horror when the host advised that a honey dew melon flavoured Bingsu was for dessert! On arrival of dessert, i resigned myself to one big polite mouthful and then a drink of water quickly. The Bingsu arrived with passionfruit sauce and popping pearls to put on top. Once in my mouth, I prepared myself for the usual taste of honey dew, but instead, i found one of the most delicious dessert that i had had for a very long time. The Bingsu was light and creamy and the perfect ending to a magical meal. Any establishment that can covert a long time hater of honey dew melon into a fan is something special. Now that i have mentioned all the Pro's for this restaurant, it is only right that i mentioned the 2 Con's i have with this place. 1. I don't live close enough to come here each week, and 2. All other Thai/Lao/Vietnamese food now pales in comparison. No matter where you are in Sydney, this is a restaurant that is worth the travel, with quality food and service found here extremely hard to come by. The staff are friendly and the service is at a great pace that you don't feel rushed and don't feel like you are waiting for your food either. The atmosphere is happy and one of celebration. Another bonus , is that there is parking out the back of the hotel also."
